Such is the case with a malfunctioning Galaxy S7 edge that caught on fire in the Philippines. It’s not clear what caused the issue, and this isn’t a Galaxy Note 7-like situation. The phone has been selling in stores for months without problems.
Smartphone user Weng Briones took to Facebook to post pictures of the Galaxy S7 edge that caught on fire. He returned the handset to a local Samsung Mobile Store and obtained a full refund. And from the looks of it, Weng was impressed by the way Samsung handled his situation.
“We went to Samsung store at SM City Taytay, and they have refunded my money in full. Kudos to all the staff of Samsung SM Taytay for their immediate action regarding my issue,” he said on Facebook. “In spite of the unfortunate incident, I am, however, impressed by their aftersales-support. Much respect to Samsung. Keep safe everyone.”
This isn’t the first Galaxy S7 edge to go up in flames. A man who sustained second- and third-degree burns after a Galaxy S7 edge exploded in his shirt pocket sued Samsung in New Jersey earlier this month. But these are isolated incidents, so there’s no reason to panic about your Galaxy S7 edge.
Even so, exploding Samsung phones certainly won’t help the South Korean giant which is desperately trying to fix this PR mess.
